Identifying the Psychometric Properties of the Question Asking Strategies Awareness Scale: The Validity and Reliability Study

The purpose of the present study was to develop question asking strategies awareness scale (QASAS) and describe psychometric properties scale. justification for current lack a measurement tool in national context that explores teachers’ in-class questioning practices during instructional activities in-depth supported by discursively-oriented theoretical background. Data gathering process conducted reaching 664 teachers from diverse teaching branches QASAS. validity reliability processes QASAS were completed operating exploratory confirmatory factor analysis addition calculating Cronbach Alpha coefficient. items gathered around seven factors are labelled as “MonitoringCritiquing-Eliciting”, “Challenging-Conceptual Change-Evidencing”, “Epistemic Authority & Prior Knowledge”, “Clarification-Conceptual Consistency”, “Open-ended Close-ended”, “Selecting-eliminating through Follow-up Questions”, “Evaluating Knowledge providing.” It is deduced can measure regarding both learner-centred teacher-centred discursive interactions. may serve checklist qualitative studies, being administrated data collection large-scale surveying studies. also guide determining shortcomings professional development well designing implementing pedagogically-oriented developmental activities.
